Glacier Symphony Concertmaster Ali Schultz Levesque (they/them) is a Montana native who has recently returned home after a sojourn in New England and abroad. Ali developed an early love of music, performing with the Billings Symphony from age 15. They entered the Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI, at age 17, pursuing dual degree programs in violin performance and neuroscience. They completed Graduate studies at Boise State University, becoming one of the founding members of the Boise Baroque Orchestra. After completing a dual Master’s degree in violin performance and pedagogy, Ali enrolled in the Hartt School of Music, continuing post-graduate studies as the Teaching Assistant to DeLay student Anton Miller.

As a performing artist, Ali has soloed with several symphonies including the Glacier Symphony, Meridian Symphony, and the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra. They have held principal positions in several professional symphonies throughout the Pacific Northwest and New England, including currently serving as Associate Concertmaster/ Principal Second Violin of the Helena Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Concertmaster of the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. 

While living in Connecticut, Ali held a leadership position with the Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra of the Connecticut Lyric Opera. For eight seasons, Ali performed with CLO and taught on the faculty of the Virtuosi Music Academy. They regularly collaborate with other professionals in the US and abroad, both in academic and concertizing pursuits. This has included appointments to the faculty of the prestigious Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Brazil as violin instructor and resident luthier. Ali is a proud faculty member of Camp Festival Amadeus, investing in the cultivation of excellence and love of music in Flathead Valley youth. 

Ali has a passion for promoting the work of living composers—having performed the North American premier of Joann Metcalf’s Deux Pièces, and has performed solo and chamber works by composers such as Frank Proto, David Allen Cutright, Lowell Liebermann, and Manuel del Águila. Ali thoroughly enjoys collaborating with the talented and visionary composer and conductor Maestro John Zoltek in the Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Chorale.
